Canadian Graphic Designers Win IHRA Poster Contest

Results are in from the “Keeping the Memory Alive - Journeys Through the Holocaust” poster contest of the International Holocaust Remembrance Allianace (IHRA) and Yad Vashem in cooperation with representatives from Great Britain, Czech Republic, the Canadian IHRA Chairmanship and the Holocaust and United Nations Outreach Programme.

Sixteen finalists were chosen, and the top three awards go to Caitlin McGinn (Canada), Carling Hind (Canada), and James Alonso (Great Britain). Congratulations to all the entrants and especially to the winners for creating such thought-provoking and poignant designs.

The sixteen posters will be mounted around the world to mark International Holocaust Remembrance Day (January 27, 2014) in high-profile governmental, civic and educational settings, including parliaments and UN offices. Additionally, a lesson plan which will be created by pedagogical experts will be used for Holocaust education extensively by IHRA-affiliated organizations the world over.

The International Poster Competition is a joint project of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) and Yad Vashem, Israel, in cooperation with the United Kingdom, the Czech Republic, the 2013 Canadian Chairmanship of the IHRA, the Holocaust and United Nations Outreach Programme, and other partners in countries around the world.
