Bronze Doors
Holocaust Museum's Bronze Doors
The bronze doors that grace the entrance to our Museum were created by noted Canadian sculptor Andrew Posa. The stylized menorah (candelabra) on each of the two doors is in the shape of the Hebrew letter, “Shin.” When both are read together they form the word “shesh,” which represents the number “6” in memory of the six million victims of the Holocaust.
The doors were designed and commissioned by Gerda Frieberg, one of the founders of the Centre, and are dedicated to the memory of Mrs. Frieberg’s family, who perished in the Holocaust.
