The Legislative Assembly of Ontario passed Bill 17 of 2012, proclaiming the month of May in each year as Jewish Heritage Month.
"By proclaiming the month of May as Jewish Heritage Month, the Province of Ontario recognizes the important contributions that Jewish Canadians have made to Ontario’s social, economic, political and cultural fabric. Jewish Heritage Month is an opportunity to remember, celebrate and educate future generations about the inspirational role that Jewish Canadians have played, and continue to play, in communities across Ontario." IWitness: One Voice at a Time
In honour of Jewish Heritage Month in Ontario, the Neuberger Holocaust Education Centre invites you to spend an evening discovering the remarkable and inspiring testimonies of Canadian Holocaust survivors along with special guest, Dr. Kori Street, Education Director of the USC Shoah Foundation.
Dedicated to preserving, documenting and making accessible a visual history archive of approximately 52,000 recorded testimonies, the USC Shoah Foundation is a global leader in oral history.
Many Holocaust survivors living in the GTA were among the first to record their testimonies with Steven Spielberg's Visual History Archive. Included in this number are more than 65 testimonies of indivuals who are current or late members of the Neuberger's survivor speakers' bureau. Our Ekstein Resource Library is a repository of this collection, open to Canadian students and members of the public.
The Neuberger is proud to invite the public to experience the testimony of Toronto-area Holocaust survivors - one voice at a time.
